Never Too Far - Abbi Glines I was so super excited for this book because I totally fell in love with not only Rush (I mean seriously who DOESN’T love Rush) but I also loved Blair too because she just takes everything that life throws at her and moves on. So when this book game out, I had it on my kindle and was reading it right away. But, I must say I was a little bit disappointed… I still totally love Rush, even though he is basically a stupid guy for what he does most of the time and the way he reacts to everything… I still love Blair because she is just trying to deal with everything and more just seems to be piling on top of her… I totally fell in love with Woods in this book, I thought he was a bit of a prick in the glimpse we had of him in Fallen Too Far, but this book totally changed my opinion of him… I even kinda like Cain and hope that one day we can learn more about him because I don’t want him to just disappear he is too much of Blair’s past to just forget about. My problem with this book is that well… well as much as I love Blair and totally think she belongs with Rush come hell or high-water… she kinda made me hate her when she basically just gave in to him… yea sure she didn’t go running back to him immediately she did decide to do things on her own… but as soon as he started talking sweet to her she was just like ‘Screw being alone let him do everything’ it just well… kinda pissed me off. But I got over it because even though I guess I kinda lost a bit of respect from her they obviously belong together and no matter what I want to see them together… I am excited for the third book (ok I already read it) but my hopes aren’t AS high for the third book. I am hoping that it exceeds my expectations but I don’t want to get my hopes popped like a balloon. Overall I am enjoying this series mainly because the characters are all pretty genuine and Abbi Glines can write like no body else. Totally worth checking this series out if you haven’t already… *spoiler* the third book is really really good! Totally makes up for my lack of loving Never Too Far
The Eternity Cure (Blood of Eden, #2) - Julie Kagawa “Only death will take me away from you, vampire girl," he whispered. "And even then, I'll watch over you from wherever I end up.” ― Julie Kagawa, The Eternity CureCharacters:Allie – I like Allie so much more in this book then I did in the previous book. I think its because she finally accepts who she is, but hasn’t totally lost her humanity (ok so I am using a Vampire Diaries phrase) She has really come into her own, and she is strong which is awesome because seriously? Who doesn’t love a strong female vampire?Zeke – Zeke… wow… I love Zeke… what more can I say about him? We actually don’t get to see Zeke until quite far into the book, and I have to admit I was a little worried that he wouldn’t be included in the book very much (I know silly me right?) So when he showed up, I was super excited… but I was also SHOCKED! This wasn’t the same Zeke that we met in the first book. This Zeke was hardened, he wasn’t just a sweet boy, he was a determined, dangerous man. Yes I know we saw flashes of this side of him in the first book but not this much. BUT the Zeke I fell in love with was still there… and I am trying REALLY hard not to spoil anything here but… that ending? OMG!! Talk about Shock and Awe… yikes!Jackal – I am including Jackal here because well I kinda really like him! He is sleezy, untrustworthy, and selfish… but he is also a very smart guy, and he knows how to play everyone. I know that may not seem like a good thing, but the role he plays in this book was just awesome, I was totally fooled and it honestly took me a second to catch up when I finally realized what happened! I may have slightly fallen in love with Jackal a little bit in this book. I don’t think he is as bad as I always thought he was.The Good and The Bad:There was a lot that was good with this book, it took so many different twists and turns which I love because I hate reading a book that I can figure out where everything is heading. The writing is fantastic… which doesn’t surprise me as Julie Kagawa is a fantastic writer and I am never disappointed when I read her books. I also like how we got to hear a bit more about Vampires from the past. I also really LOVED the bond that formed between Allie and Jackal by the end of the book. I found that a few parts in the book were a little too slow for me, especially at the beginning, but the book really picked up and kept me riveted the whole time. Other then that the book was exactly what I was expecting. Final Thoughts:AHHH the ending!!! OMG I went through so many different emotions during the last like 10 pages! I hate cliff hangers, but that one? I will take it! I am just sad that I have to wait SO LONG for the third book! I have NO IDEA what is going to happen but I am super excited to find out!
The Mighty Storm (The Storm, #1) - Samantha Towle I picked this book up because of a recommendation from one of my Twitter friends quite a while ago. It was actually a debate between A Mighty Storm or On Dublin Street. I really don’t know why but A Mighty Storm just grabbed my attention more (I still haven’t read On Dublin Street, but I have heard good things about it) This was the beginning of the end for me because it really introduced me to the world of New Adult and I have had trouble reading anything else ever since! I absolutely loved Tru, she was sucha great character! She was a strong determined women and that is always a fun character to read about because when something happens that isn’t what they planned… everything just explodes and I really enjoy watching where all the pieces will fall. Then there is Jake… he was honestly such a sweetheart, even when he was the playboy rock star, when he was around Tru he was a completely different person and you couldn’t help but love him! I also loved his slightly bad boy image, and his take charge attitude… he was able to walk the fine line of being possessive and being in charge. It was fantastic! This book basically has it all… it was the pushy best friend that just wants Tru to be happy… it has a love triangle with Tru being stuck in the middle of Jake and Will her current Boyfriend that she has been dating for a while… this book also packs in a TON of romance, but also all the trouble that comes from such an intense romance and the fact that Jack is a superstar. Most of all… this book has a Happily Ever After…I loved this book and story and each and every character regardless of how insignificant they actually were… I am so excited for the second book in the series Wethering The Storm that I have already preordered it on Amazon for the day of its release!
The Indigo Spell - Richelle Mead Let me start off by saying that I absolutely LOVE this series! I think I may even like it more then Vampire Academy (which was also super amazing btw) This is the second book in the series, and as usual Richelle Mead left me wanting SO much more! I absolutely love each and every character in this book, and each book provides just a little bit more information that makes you love them even more! Sydney is just awesome, I mean considering how she was when we first met her in Vampire Academy and then to see her now? I mean she basically breaks every Alchamest rule ALL the time, plus her and Adrian? WOW… not only are they super hot together, they are oh so cute! Oh Adrian… he is everything that a swoon worthy, heartbreaking, complicated Moroi should be! He is beyond gorgous, and he is so funny and charming and just everything perfect. Even when he gets lost in his Spirit world… you just honestly cant help but love him forever. The only thing about this book that I didn’t like was the fact that this whole Marcus Finch guy was TOTALLY hyped up… and well… he really didn’t live up to what I was expecting. He wasn’t even really a good ‘bad guy’ he was just… there… I thought he was kinda useless and I really wish there was a better bad guy. OH and that ENDING! OMG I don’t even know what to expect after this book, that ending just totally through me! I mean REALLY??? This book was awesome, the writing as always just flawless, and the story just carries you away into another world which I love. The only bad thing is I have to wait what feels like FOREVER for the next book!
Trust in Me (Friends & Lovers, #3) - Bethany Lopez This is the third book in Bethany Lopez’s Friends & Lovers series, and although I enjoyed Make it Last and I Choose you, I think that Trust in Me was my favorite. The stories in each series are more or less the same, but I think what really drew me in the most for Trust in Me is that because it’s the last book, I have kinda gotten to know Rich and Roni a little bit more, so I guess I have more invested in them because of that little bit extra. It was quite obvious from the start that Roni was like a broken little bird, and although I always hate books that are about abuse of any kind, I can’t seem to stay away from them because each author is able to take something so horrible and tragic, and make the character so strong and capable of so much still. Its awe-inspiring to be honest, and I truly wish it were the way things truly were. Bethany has done a fantastic job of creating a character that is broken, but not willing to give up. I loved Roni from the first moment she came to town and I was so excited about her story. Then there is Rich, he was honestly such a cutie and I loved him too. He seemed like a real nice genuine guy, one that loved everyone and everyone loved him. Yes he was a playboy but that was really his only ‘flaw’ and really, it was more about being a guy then anything else. This was a great end to the series; it was sweet, but super emotional. Although I am sad to say goodbye to all these characters, Bethany did a fantastic job of giving each couple closure so that you are not left wanting more.
I Choose You (Friends & Lovers, #2) - Bethany Lopez The Characters:Nicole – She is a very unassuming girl, and we didn’t get to know her very much in the first book as she wasn’t really part of the crowd. Nicole is new to town, and well she is running away from her past… but not in like a stalkerish type way… more in a ‘That’s not the life I want’ type way. I really liked her just for that reason alone. She wasn’t willing to settle into what was expected of her, she wanted to do something different so she did it! Kent – I wasn’t really a Kent fan at the beginning because well he was a bit of an ass in the first book… although we didn’t get to really know him. But once I did get to know him I was like ‘uh huh, ok so you are a super hottie and well you are kinda sweet too’ so yea I fell a little bit in love with him there. What I liked:I really liked how sweet the story was. It was quite simple… boy girl meet, instant attraction… so on and so forth. But what I have discovered is that Bethany is able to put so much emotion into the littlest things in her writing, which is something that totally grabbed my attention while reading this book (as well as the rest of the books in the series) What I didn’t like so much:As much as I love the authors writing style… the story is just so unoriginal that well it was always so obvious where it was going. Yes I understand it is a contemporary romance, but it was like insta-love and not even that much drama to get from point A to point B. I just felt like I needed a little more. Last remarks:As with the first book in this series it is very well written, and you can’t help but lose yourself in the characters. The author really has a major talent for bringing out emotions in her characters, as well as really building the scene. This would be a great book for anyone who likes contemporary romance. Although this book is part of a series it can be read as a stand-a-lone book as well which I really liked, there are little bits you may not totally understand but nothing too significant. Overall, a very well written sweet romance that is a quick read.
Make it Last - Bethany Lopez The Characters: Briana – I really liked Briana! She had her heart broken by her high school sweetheart, and she has held a bit of a grudge since then. Briana has moved on and is no longer openly pining for Colin, but she has never really gotten over her broken heart… it almost seems like she is only half living, never really giving herself a chance to let her heart move on. Colin – I was totally prepared to dislike him, I mean he did break Briana’s heart, and the fact that he did it because he was leaving for college and was afraid that he might cheat on her? Uh HELLO! To me that is total scumbag! BUT then we actually meet Colin, and learn more of his reasons and thinking behind it… and well ok I forgave him. Plus he was still so obviously in love with Briana and regretted what he did… sooo yea I kinda fell in love with him a little bit. What I liked: I really liked the authors writing style, she was able to make me hate a character one second, and then love them the next… I also really liked how we got both points of view from the characters, I think it really adds another dimension to a story when you hear the his and hers version. What I didn’t like so much: The only thing I didn’t like about this story is it was pretty predictable. I just wish there was some kind of twist… a crazy stalker or something even. Even the authors attempt to put a little oomph was well kinda unoriginal which was a little disappointing. Last remarks: I liked how this was a short sweet story, it really didn’t take me long to read it because I got totally engrossed in the characters right away. Bethany Lopez also does a fantastic job of giving little hints of what is to come in future books which I was super excited for as I knew I had 2 more to go.
A Little Bit Cupid - Jennifer Shirk I picked this book up because I was in the mood for a Valentines day book and this one sounded kinda fun. It was definitely a quick read, and it didn’t take me long to get through it, however I couldn’t help but feel rushed throughout the whole thing. The relationship between Cal and Pheobe is cute and awkward and just plain adorable right from the first meeting. I just wish we got to learn a bit more about each of the characters. I usually don’t read novellas or short books because I generally tend to not like them too much. But this book gave me exactly what I wanted, it gave me gushy romance that was fast but written in such a fun way that I didn’t even really mind the near insta-love. I think however that the thing that made this book for me was ‘Cupid’ he was just completely opposite of everything you would ever think of when you thought about Cupid… yet it worked because it added extra humor and just gave the whole book an even lighter feel to it. Although this book is based around Valentines day, if you were ever looking for a quick fun romance this book would totally fit the bill!
Exhale - Jennifer Snyder The Characters:Katie – I don’t know if I really liked Katie too much, at first she was ok… but I didn’t really like the way she treated Derek or Kyle. She was obviously in love with one of them, and the other one was obviously in love with her. It is always an interesting triangle when it involves siblings, and I am always excited to see which direction it will take. However, the way Katie handled things, it reminded me a bit of Bella from New Moon, totally helpless and useless… which kind of pissed me off because I feel that Katie could have been portrayed in a much different light. Derek – Ah the good twin… Derek is the perfect teenager, he is respectful, has a job, is generally the one who looks after his brother when they go to a party, he is also a total sweetheart. When tragedy strikes he is really the one left dealing with things on his own because Katie is wallowing in her own guilt. At first I didn’t really like him too much either, because he was hiding things from his brother… even if it was with the intent to not hurt him. I think if he had just been upfront and honest things would have turned out much different. Kyle – The rebel twin… I liked Kyle right from the start, probably because he was the bad boy and well I have a weak spot for bad boys! Kyle liked to party, he was a major flirt, he was also super hot and had such charm. I was rooting for Kyle the whole time, and while the storied played out I was increasingly worried over what was coming. I really wish we got to see more of Kyle, because I think that most the time he was just showing one side of him and I think there was so much more to himWhat I liked: The story was very well written, and I will totally be checking out more of Jennifer Snyder’s books. I did enjoy how the love triangle progressed… as sad as it was, and as upset as I was over what happened… the message was loud and clear… know matter what happens, life goes on…. I really like a story with a good message. What I didn’t like so much:I didn’t like that the book was so short, I felt like it was rushing through so many important things. I also think that although the book was very well written, right from the start it was easy to see where it would end, not the exact conclusion but it was quite clear from the beginning that it wouldn’t be good. Last remarks:Overall I thought this book was ok, as I have said it is well written, and the message was something that everyone really has to at some point face throughout there lives. If you are looking for a story that will get your emotions involved, but are short on time this is totally the book you will want to check out.
The Road That Leads To Home - Jaimie Hope This was a very cute and sweet story about love, family, loss and home. I started reading this book and I finished it in only a few hours. It’s the type of story that although a little rushed (a lot happens in only 187 pages) because the story is just so cute you want to know what happens between everyone. I think what I really liked about this book is, its not totally a romance book… is there romance in it? Yes of course! But this book is about SO much more then that. It is honestly about finding yourself, loving your family, and well… knowing that you can always go home. Although the ending wasn’t what I was expected… in fact it shocked me completely and made me very mad! I got over it once the story totally finished because I think I understood what the author was trying to get at… so although I was sad and upset and yea a little mad still, it was ok… everything happens for a reason right?Overall, if you are looking for a quick read this is a pretty good book to pick up, the only problem I had with it is that because it is such a short book, I felt that I was unable to really connect with all or any of the characters because there is just SO much that happens in such a short span of time.
WitchLove - Emma Mills "I Daniel Summers of the Northern Vampire Clan have come here to claim guardianship over Jessica James"That quote made me swoon! Seriously I was so worried about Daniel but then THAT happened :) I was still really mad at him but... I got over it, I mean *sigh* I love himBut onto the rest of the book shall we? So I finally got over hating Luke so much, I totally dont like him, but he is actually an OK guy. The fact that he did something that could actually get him in trouble by saving Jess's life put him back in my good books. BUT he better not try anything with Jess! She totally belongs with Daniel! Although I loved this book, I didnt like it AS much as I liked WitchCraft, this book was much slower for me after everything that happened in the last book I just wanted MORE. What I did love about this book though was the friendship that formed between Jess and Brittany. At first Brittany was the bad guy... helping Cole and all that, but she is honestly just a scared girl, and because Jess is able to hold onto so much of her human side she sees this and befriends her almost immediately. Also, as much as I love hearing about the UK, it was awesome that they came over to the US where some things make just a bit more sense to me. But I will admit throughout this book, as well as the others there were certain phrases and words that I had NO idea what they meant and had me jumping on google to find out the meaning. This book was able to show just how much Jess has grown, she is also not as impulsive anymore, but man is she powerful! Even her Aunt didnt realize she would be that powerful! (kinda like Bonny Bennet when she uses Expression) I am super loving this series, and I am so sad that the next book is not out yet, Mary is still running around out there, and now this whole thing with Alex? I NEED to know what happens! But, as I am a reader I am use to having to wait for the next book in the series, so i will wait patiently until it comes out. If you havnt read this series yet? Check it out NOW! The way this book weaves Vampires and magic, as well as Angels is fantastic and you dont want to miss it! *Special thanks to the author Emma Mills for providing copies of WitchLove for review*
Witchcraft (Witchblood, #2) - Emma Mills Wow! This book was so good! The first book took me a little bit to get into but about half way through it I was hooked, so I was SUPER excited to read WitchCraft! I think the best part about this series is that, its about Vampires yes, but there is a Vampire Witch! That is just so unusual that it makes me excited to read how it turns out! So this book starts basically where the last one finished, Jess still refuses to drink human blood, but she does drink from Daniel (which is kinda hot) Eva is still around and although she is like a major B most of the time, she is still pretty cool although I still think she has an angle, I dont trust her completly yet. Then there is Daniel, *sigh* and Luke... I LOVE Daniel, and if Jess chooses Luke over him I may start screaming. Luke is such a pompaus JERK! Yes he is an angel, but well he DID let Jess die so he has NO reason to hate her for what HE allowed her to become! But Daniel? WOW! Yes he is controlling, and gets very jelous if Jess talks to Luke, and ok maybe that equals a non healthy relationship but, he is also so sweet and he IS a vampire so i understand where his jealousy because well vampires are very territorial right? But I think what I love about him the most is that is it SO obvious that he loves Jess and just wants to protect her. You know, this Daniel, Jess, Luke love triangle kinda reminds me of Damen, Elena, and Stephan (yes I am a HUGE TVD fan) but seriously? both guys love her a different way, and just like on TVD I side with the 'Bad Boy' so I am totally Team Daniel! I gave this book 5 stars because it was a very fast paced book, and SO much happens, and I love Jess's new ability with her magic and how it makes her much more confident. She still really needs to think before she acts though. I also generally really hate cliffhangers, but in this book it worked so perfectly! I was mad and upset and going slightly CRAZY because I didnt know what happened with Daniel! But the fact that I had WitchLove waiting on my Kindle, as well as little things that were said and not said at the end of this book really helped me through it. *Special thanks to the author Emma Mills for providing copies of Witchblood for review*
Almost - Anne Eliot Right from the beginning this book started breaking my heart. I don't know why, but when an author is willing to brave a tough subject I am also drawn even further into the story and the characters always take on whole new level of meaning to me.Jess Jordan was 'almost' raped during her freshman year, but she cant remember the details which is probably a good thing, however for her it is not a good thing because she has never been able to recover from it. But she has been able to build a very good wall of indifference around her to make people that know what happened think that she is better. However, all she really wants is to get away from it all. In order to do just that though she has to prove to her family that she is OK... shes 'normal' so she lands an internship for the summer, but thats not quite good enough. In order to REALLY prove she is OK she needs a boyfriend.Gray knows what happened to Jess that night, all he has ever wanted to do is protect her from being hurt again... so he has left her alone and not said a word. But when he applies for the same internship as Jess and she proposes that he be her fake boyfriend for the summer and she will pay him to do it... he cant say no because he just wants to help her in any way he can. This is such a sweet story regardless of the tragic beginning. Anne Eliot is such a fantastic reader that you want to know where her story will go next, and boy does she take us for a ride! She is definitely one of my authors to watch in the future!
Veer - Alyssa Rose Ivy So I really liked Derailed, it is New Adult Contemporary Romance through and through... so I was so excited to read Veer, especially because I was was able to read it right after Derailed and I was still stuck in Clayton Falls with everyone.Veer is the story of Becca and Gavin, and trust me it is such a cute story! Becca is a city girl and is only in town to visit her friend Molly as well as putting her schooling to use with a summer job at the towns lawyer office. Becca seems really put together, however she is such a mess having recently lost her mother in the fight against cancer, she is now at loose ends as she has only ever cared for her mother, so when Molly suggested she come visit her there was nothing holding her back.Gavin is the hottie cop that had to give up his pro baseball career when an injury sidelined him 3 years ago. He is looking for the love of his life and so far he has had no luck. He was also a bit of an ass in Derailed so I honestly wasn't sure what I thought about him pairing up with sweet Becca. But pair up they did! At first it was tense, they were obviously attracted to each other, but Gavin had been burned by a city girl before and did not want that to happen again, then when they finally did give in to their attraction... Gavin was an ASSHOLE!But I forgave him, because after that incident he proved that he really could be the sweetheart that we saw glimpses of throughout the first book in the series.Overall this was a very sweet book, Alyssa Rose Ivy is a flawless writer, and I am in awe of the emotions she is able to draw out of me in every book of hers that I have read. The Veer is a fairly fast paced book, and you just sink into the story so fast that before you know it its over and your left wanting more.I am so excited for the next book in the series to come out, I am sure that Wrecked will be just as fantastic as Derailed and Veer were... plus Jake Mathews was my favorite background character in both of these books I am so happy that he is finally getting his own book!
Derailed - Alyssa Rose Ivy This author was recommended to me by one of my super awesome Twitter friends, and I am SO glad that I took her up on it and picked it up. Derailed is the first book in the Clayton Falls series and it is part of the New Adult wave that is going around (that I absolutely LOVE btw)Molly is a small town girl who left to go to school in the big city, but during her last year of law school she loses her fiance and realizes that she doesn't want to be there anymore... it was time to go home. The one thing that Molly didn't want when she arrived home though was to run into her ex boyfriend Ben, he broke her heart when they were younger by not being there when she needed him. However in a small town, you cant avoid someone forever.Ben knows that he screwed up with Molly when they were teenagers, he also knows that he wants another chance to prove that he is good enough for her. Everything he has done since Molly walked away from his has been because he knew that one day she would come back and he wanted to be ready for her... to show her the man he should have been when she needed him before.Molly and Ben's relationship takes off like a rocketship, regardless of how much Molly fought it... Ben fought back just as hard. There were definitely a few scenes throughout the book that had me surreptitiously wiping my eyes. If you are into the New Adult books like I am, then this series is totally one that you need to pick up and check out!
The Secret of Ella and Micha (The Secret, #1) - Jessica Sorensen Once again the author Jessica Sorensen is able to hit on a tough subject in today's society... but she does it with so much class and the amazing ability to take something horrible and show you the bright light at the end of the tunnel.First we meet Ella, she is a good girl who grew up on the wrong side of the tracks, and that side of the tracks turned her into a rule breaking rebel. But one situation changes everything and she runs... just takes up and goes, doesn't even tell her best friend where she is going or if she will be OK.Ella needed a fresh start, without her past shadowing her at every corner. Although I didn't agree with he way she ran away from everything, I understood why she would want to do that. I also have to respect her because although she ran, she did it in order to make something better of herself. However in the process of a better life, she hid who she truly is behind who she thinks she should be... even to her new best friend. But everyone has to go home eventually right? That's when we meet Micha again, Micha is the guy version of Ella, he is also Ella's best friend and neighbor. So when Ella shows back up at home, the first person she runs into is Micha.I loved Micha from the word GO, he was desperate to have his best friend back again and was doing everything he could to locate her... then when she just pops back up again... he wasn't even really mad, he was relieved that she was OK. But the Ella that came home is not the same Ella that ran away from him 8 months ago, and he is determined to get her back again. This book will haunt you with its sweetness, all the trials and tribulations that this pair go through is sad, but happy... and in the end Jessica Sorensen knows exactly how to get you to feel the pain of each character, but she is also able to let you see that bright light at the end of the tunnel that assures you that everything in life happens for a reason, regardless of how hard everything seems at the moment.
